Reducing your waste is no small feat. In a very waste-full society, avoiding plastic and rubbish seems near impossible. On a trip to the supermarket, you’ll be hard pressed to find all you need without plastic wrappers, plastic containers, or frivolous packaging on packaging on packaging. Sometimes it feels like a pass-the-parcel set up! Luckily for us, there are experts in this space who have tested, failed, tried, and succeeded at ‘zero-wasting’ and graciously share their knowledge with us online.
Kathryn Kellogg is one of the world’s most influential zero wasters. A professional actor and pizza adorer, Kathryn’s personality drives her blog in an authentic and raw way; it’s highly contagious. Her ‘how to’ guides are simple and accessible, showing how you can live zero-waste on a small budget, whilst still devouring delicious things. Going Zero Waste is a blog that inspires zero-waste and accepts imperfections on your zero-waste journey.
Treading my own path, by Lindsay Miles, encourages doing stuff, not buying stuff. Recipes, minimalism, zero-waste travelling, where to shop, and every day tips are what you’ll find on the blog, but Lindsay doesn’t stop there. Lindsay Miles, based in Perth, walks the walk when it comes to zero-waste, and drives community initiatives, courses, workshops, and speaks to thousands at a time about her zero-waste and minimalist life style.
Erin Rhoads is the mastermind behind The Rogue Ginger, a blog devoted to zero-waste living and environmental activism. As a sought-after writer and speaker, Erin has become one of Australia’s most well-known lifestyle bloggers. “Being able to reduce plastic and waste easily in any scenario comes down to two main factors; circumstance and knowledge.” Her style of communicating messages is refreshing. Erin explains the world of zero-waste in a way that makes you realise zero-waste isn’t as hard as it sounds. The Rogue Ginger is particularly helpful for zero-waste mammas.
Zero-waste is always better when paired with humour… and Zoe Jazz of Ain’t No Planet B knows that better than anyone else! Ain’t No Planet B offers DIY projects, recipes, and health and beauty tips, all presented in fun, short blogs that won’t bore you to death or make you swipe away. Zoe cuts the crap and reviews products and strategies you know you can trust. Ain’t No Planet B also shares about sociology. In this space, topics such as creativity, perfection, self-worth, and zero-waste gift giving are discussed in short snippets to show readers they aren’t crazy or alone.
For 10 years, Bea Johnson has been living a zero-waste lifestyle. Now, she travels all around the world talking about how we can too. Bea’s family fill one jar a year of waste… she’s as serious about zero-waste as you can get. Bea shares about her zero-waste lifestyle and travel experiences on the blog, but the best feature is her Bulk Finder: simply type in your address and the map will pop up with bulk food stores near you.
